iPod mini’s battery replacement: Part 2
Today I received the battery for my old iPod mini and replaced it. The battery came with “tools” (two screwdrivers). I had a hard time unscrewing small screws because the flathead screwdriver was bigger than I needed it to be (and I had to use a file to fix that). Nevertheless, I fixed something that I thought was dead. Now I got another mp3 player.

iPod Mini’s Battery Replacement
I just got a new battery (from eBay) for my Zen Microphoto for about $6 and easily replaced it. Now I ordered a new battery for my iPod mini which I used about 2 or 3 years ago (and which died about a year and a half ago or so) after I realized that it’s possible to replace it. I gave up and bought the Zen after watching the Neistat Brothers‘ video called “iPod’s dirty secret”.
My New Rig: Inspiron 1520

I just ordered a new Dell Inspiron 1520 which replaced the previous 1505/1501s. I’ve been waiting for at least 3 weeks to order this beast and I am lucky I waited. Because first I was going to buy the Inspiron 1505 which is more expensive and not, of course, as good as 1520. So this is what I got:
- SYSTEM COLOR Jet Black
- PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
- OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium Edition
- DISPLAY High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch display (1680×1050)
- VIDEO CARD 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8600M GT
- MEMORY 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
- HARD DRIVE 160G 7200RPM SATA HDD
- OPTICAL DRIVE CD / DVD writer (DVD+/-RW Drive)
- WIRELESS NETWORKING Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card
- BLUETOOTH OPTIONS Built-in Bluetooth capability (2.0 EDR)
- INTEGRATED WEBCAM Integrated 2.0M Pixel Webcam
- BATTERY OPTIONS 56Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)
- SOUND OPTIONS High Definition Audio 2.0
HIGHLIGHTS: Santa Rosa, DirectX 10 (!!!), Built-in MediaCard Reader, WiFi Catcher.
I used a $300-off Dell coupon to make it cheaper. First I was going to get the HP Pavilion dv6500t, but decided to go with Dell because of the nVidia GeForce 8600M GT video card, which is little better than the HP’s 8400M GS. I also got it because I currently own one Dell Inspiron 5150. And all this I found out at notebookreview.com, a great website that will help you get a notebook you need.
Google Maps: New Street View
Google added a new feature that allows you to see the streets in 3D. It covers almost all of NYC, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island etc. You can “drag yourself” to any street/place; “move the camera” and see all sides of the street and even zoom in. There is also a Full-Screen mode. You can also “walk” anywhere using the arrows.
